These French Onion Meatballs are a delicious twist on traditional meatballs, featuring the rich flavors of caramelized onions and savory turkey bacon.

  • 4 slices turkey bacon, chopped
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 large onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme leaves

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine ground turkey, chopped turkey bacon, breadcrumbs, parmesan cheese, egg, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
  3. Shape the mixture into meatballs and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  4. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat and add the sliced onions. Cook until caramelized, about 15-20 minutes.
  5. Add beef broth and thyme to the skillet with the onions, stirring to combine.
  6. Once meatballs are formed, add them to the skillet and simmer for 20-25 minutes until cooked through.
  7. Serve warm, drizzled with broth and topped with caramelized onions.
