French Onion Chicken Orzo Casserole

A delicious blend of French onion flavors with chicken and orzo, topped with crispy turkey bacon.

  • 1 cup orzo pasta
  • 2 cups cooked chicken, shredded
  • 6 slices turkey bacon, cooked and crumbled
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup cream
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat and add sliced onions. Cook until caramelized, about 15 minutes.
  3. In a large bowl, combine cooked orzo, shredded chicken, crumbled turkey bacon, caramelized onions, beef broth, mozzarella cheese, cream, garlic powder, black pepper, salt, and thyme. Mix until well combined.
  4. Pour the mixture into a greased casserole dish and spread evenly.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until heated through and the top is golden.
  6. Remove from oven and let it sit for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • For added flavor, you can sprinkle additional cheese on top before baking.
